Fontana Famous Roastery evolved from the famous Fontana Convenience Stores, and have been operating for 37 years. For the past 3 decades, Fontana has prepared and served more than 20 million chickens to the delight of over 50 million appetities!

Like all classic stories, the story of Fontana Famous Roastery began a long time ago in a place far away …. that is, far away from what it is now. The original Fontana, founded by Sakis Xenopolous, was situated in Hillbrow, back in the early 1970's when it was recognised as South Africa's principal nightlife area. Late night revelers would leave clubs early in the morning and buy barbeque chickens from the Fontana supermarket in High Point.

The current Fontana Chicken has clearly come a long way since then. Today it is emerging as one of the fastest growing franchises in South Africa. The Fontana group now has just over 40 stores, with many more to come in 2008.

A Fontana roast chicken is truly a legend in Johannesburg and this legend is spreading throughout the RSA and Africa offering the promise of a truly succulent, fresh and affordable "home cooked meal". If you haven't tasted a Fontana roast chicken, you haven't tasted the best roast chicken in town!
